Event 3:
During January 2011, Telecentre.org Foundation and Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) will launch a Certificate Course in “Telecentre Management”. In the Indian context, Telecentres are called Village Resource Centres, Village Knowledge Centres, Information Kiosks, e-Choupals or any ICT-based Rural Information Kiosks. The duration of the course is 3-6 months. This is a partnership programme of 13 International Open Universities facilitated by the Telecentre.org Foundation. The course covers the following topics.
Fundamentals of Telecentres, Understanding of Local communities, Community Informatics, Telecentre Planning, Fundamentals of Telecentre management, Qualities of a Telecentre manager, Introduction to computers and the internet, Introduction to Telecentre services, Community use of Telecentres, Information management at Telecentres, Introduction to Telecentre marketing and promotion and Assessing Telecentre progress. Apart from the above modules several elective modules are also introduced.
Regarding this the Telecentre.org Foundation, IGNOU and Grameen Gyan Abhiyan Secretariat, C/o M S Swaminathan Research Foundation plan to jointly organize a Telecentre Manager Curriculum orientation program to a set of Master Trainers at Mumbai during 26-29 November 2010. The first set of trainees will assume the role of being students as well as Master Trainers. |
