The Secretariat is a facilitator that executes the work plan under Mission 2007 and now Grameen Gyaan Abhiyan, it performs the following functions:

• Building and expanding the partnership base of Grameen Gyaan Abhiyan Network
• Supporting and coordinating the work of the Executive Board and Alliance Members and other Grameen Gyaan Abhiyan (Mission 2007) stakeholders
• Facilitating decision taking by the General Body by organizing meetings of the stakeholders representing different CSOs, private and public sectors and academic institutions;
• Facilitating media coverage and communication on Grameen Gyaan Abhiyan (Mission 2007)
• Documentation of National Policy Makers' Workshops, Steering Committee Meetings and other relevant meetings

The Secretariat is hosted at M. S. Swaminathan Research Foundation at the Chennai Office.
